Making Circle Time More Interactive

When children have an interest in something they will be more engaged in the activity and will be more willing and excited about participating.  One way to make circle time more interactive is to have the children choose the songs or finger plays used during circle time.  Draw simple pictures with words of songs and finger plays that children know in the classroom and then put each one on an index card.  Store them in a recipe box so the children can look through and choose a song or finger play for the day.   Another idea would be to have the children draw the pictures of the songs on the index cards and put those in the box for children to choose from. Children love to be a part of the excitement of the day and giving them choices throughout the day makes them feel more independent and they will participate more. Remember the more fun you are having with the children the more learning is taking place.
