If another child is hurting your child

  • There are signs and symptoms when a child is being hurt by another child.
    Fear or withdrawal
    Trouble sleeping
    Exaggerated illness or injury
  • Ask your child directly if he is being hurt or bullied. Try not to show anger but open the door of communication and create opportunities for your child to talk.
  • Create a safe and loving environment so that your child will feel free to talk about the bulling experiences.
  • Find out the school policy on bullying. Ask your child to report any incidents of bulling to authority figures (teachers, guidance counselors, principals) as well as to you. As a parent, you also should be persistent in reporting these incidents.
  • Always support your child! Let him/her know that no one has the right to hurt another person.
